Wherever I go, I take all my generals – Pitso Mosimane

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has dropped a hint to local clubs, especially Kaizer Chiefs, whom he has been linked with, that any team that wants him will have to accommodate his generals too.

This means all the interested clubs will have to plan for salaries of six coaches and analysts, something that may automatically make the former CAF Coach of the Year not affordable for Premier Soccer League clubs.

Mosimane was referring to his technical team that he has been with since he was training Sundowns more than three years ago.

His generals are Musi Matlaba, Kabelo Rangoaga, Hamad Alyami, Kyle Solomon, Musi Matlaba and Maahier Davids.

He was speaking to a contingent of South African Football Journalists’ Association journalists in a wide-ranging.

Mosimane is back in the country from Saudi Arabia after cutting ties with Ala Wahda a few weeks ago.

He mentioned that he has not received any concrete offers yet, and noted that he is not in a rush to secure another coaching job – because spending a Christmas period with his children is as important as a “good project” or offer.

My generals are always around me

Besides Amakhosi, Mosimane’s name is being bandied about in the Super Eagles of Nigeria camp, in Asia, with some north African teams, and also in the Middle East.

“I have my generals who are [always] around me,” Mosimane said.

“So, if there’s any movement, we have a bigger discussion. I’m the leader, I’m the face of the programme, because I’m the head coach.

“But I’m not the only guy who decides we should go here or there. What if MT Sports decides to send CVs to strategic places? I have to remove myself from there.

“If they want to do that on our behalf, they can. To be honest, there is interest now and probably in a different space. Asia, not meaning the Gulf, but Asia the East. There have been talks.

“There has also been an interesting one from North America. And why not? Why not go east – Japan, China, those areas?

“If you can get a project that’s interesting in the Gulf and a similar project in Asia, probably I would go to Asia.

“And there has also been interest, not really interest but just a conversation in Europe. But I mean in eastern Europe, why not?

“And probably there might be interest here at home. And also, maybe national teams would be nice, but it depends on which one.

“It’s the Africa Cup of Nations in January, so that might be a bit too early. But maybe after January when the World Cup qualifiers continue.”
