Johannesburg – South African actress, Shaleen Surtie Richards, has passed away according to multiple media reports.
Richards, who was born in Upington on 7 May 1955, passed away at the age of 66 at her Johannesburg home.
The actress was famous for her roles on soapies such as ‘Mattie’ on Generations
& ‘Nenna’ on eGoli.
She received many awards during her long career, including a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2014 Royalty Soapie Awards.
As a child, when a local music school would not admit her because of her colour, her father bought her a piano and hired a teacher. She also took ballet and tennis classes.
