Victim of accused fraudster Sandile Shezi yearns for justice

A retired Limpopo school principal who lost his R1.2-million pension payout after allegedly being defrauded by forex scammer Sandile Shezi is losing the hope of getting his money back.

The money was deposited into Shezi’s account as an investment in his forex trading company.

It has been over a year since the pensioner opened a case of fraud against Shezi but still has not received his money. All this while Shezi continues to enjoy his life as a free man.

The retired school principal, who asked not to be identified for fear of victimisation, told Sunday World that he is losing the faith that he might get his money back, as Shezi continues to miss court appearances.

Shezi was expected to appear in the Wynberg magistrate’s court a week ago but failed to arrive in court.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, however, Shezi handed himself over to police in Sandton last week before the warrant could be effected. He was released shortly after.

He is expected to appear in court again on December 13 for trial on allegations of fraud.

Empty promises

The retired principal said he was hopeful that Shezi would have paid some of his money back by now after he promised a year ago to pay it in instalments of R10 000 a week.

The flamboyant businessman reportedly made arrangements to pay back the retired principal from November 2022 but only managed to make one payment before pleading poverty.

“He has not said anything to me and he remains quiet,” said the retired headmaster.

The pensioner was heartbroken to see Shezi not showing up in court without a valid reason.

He said he awaits the day where the self-proclaimed youngest forex millionaire faces the music for the pain he has caused to him and his family.

“I don’t even think he cares much right now. He is just doing as he pleases and is getting away with it.”
