A 36-year-old woman was gunned down in full view of commuters on Wednesday in the Mbombela business district in Mpumalanga.
It is reported that the woman was on her way to work when this gruesome incident occurred next to a bus terminal at around 5:20am
Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said the victim was gunned down in an alleged drive-by-shooting. The car involved is alleged to be a white Isuzu Light Delivery Vehicle. The victim was shot in her upper body, killing her instantly.
“Police as well as Medical Emergency Personnel were summoned to the scene where the woman was unfortunately certified dead.”
Mdhluli said that a case of murder was registered at the Nelspruit police station.
The motive behind the killing is unknown at this stage.
Police have not ruled out the possibility that the incident could be related to Domestic Violence. No one has been arrested as yet.
Mdhluli made a desperate plead for the community to come forward and said that information would be treated as confidential.
Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned the incident.
