Magashule to learn his suspension fate on Friday

Johannesburg – Suspended ANC secretary general Ace Magashule will tommorow know if he will resume his responsibilities or whether the Joburg High Court has upheld his suspension.

This was announced by the judiciary on Thursday night.

“Members of the media are advised that judgement will be handed down for the matter, “Elias Sekgobelo Magashule vs Cyril Ramaphosa & 2 others (case number: 2021/23795), On 9 July 2021 by the Gauteng Division of the High Court, Johannesburg,” a note from the judiciary said, before adding that the judgement will be handed down virtually at 10am.

Magashule was suspended by the ANC on May 5, following a special meeting of the organisation’s NEC.

In an unprecedented move, the former Free State premier later issued a letter in which he singlehandedly – and without consultation with the party’s other executives – sought to suspend Ramaphosa.
He has asked the court to set aside his suspension and uphold that of Ramaphosa.
