Beacon of integrity, voice of reason

Terry Vandayar, Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) acting director-general, said Madia was not only a journalist but also a beacon of integrity and voice of reason.

She was praised for her principled journalism, dedication to truth, fairness and accuracy, and for building constructive relationships between the media and government through the GCIS.

Her professionalism and bravery were highlighted. This includes her efforts to correct false claims about the so-called “white genocide” in South Africa.

Mahlengi Bhengu, ANC spokesperson, said Madia has left footprints on the country’s media and democratic landscape.

ANC remembers her passion

“Tshidi was a force, a dynamite whose passion for storytelling gave voice to the struggles, triumphs, and aspirations of our people. She loved South Africa deeply and dedicated her career to ensuring that the stories of ordinary citizens were told with honesty, depth, and care.

“Her fearless commitment to truth, her sharp intellect, and her integrity enriched public debate and strengthened our democracy. The ANC values her contribution to the national discourse. She consistently challenged and inspired through her work,” said Bhengu.

The DA said Madia’s reporting was fearless and was intelligently analytical in questioning those in positions of power. The party expressed that her work will continue to be respected.

EFF recalls how she fiercely defended SA

EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo also paid tribute. He said they would remember Madia for her engagement on the alleged “white genocide”. In particular her engagement on the subject with American journalists earlier this year.

They also recalled the moments that the red berets’ leader, Julius Malema, spent at the Politricking with Tshidi Madia podcasts.

The MK Party said: “Her passing is not only a loss to her family and colleagues, but to the nation as a whole.”

Herman Mashaba, ActionSA leader, also extended condolences to all those around her. He said Madia was covered with “warmth, kindness and grace”. However, he said she always stood firm when the situation called for it.

Deeply impactful and meaningful

“It is with deep sadness that we reflect on her life. Although it was far too short, it was deeply impactful and meaningful.

“We hope that in this time of great loss, her loved ones may draw comfort from the fact that hers was a life well lived. And one that touched countless people,” said Mashaba.

Mmusi Maimane, BOSA leader, said Madia contributed to turning South Africa into a loved country in the world. She respected people and was professional in her career, Maimane said.
