Zuma’s address to supporters kept under wraps as he lives to fight another day

Johannesburg – The highly anticipated public appearance and address of the former state president Jacob Zuma have been kept under wraps with his foundation on Friday only saying they were working out the finer details of the said address.

“The address will either be Saturday or Sunday. Finer details are being worked on including the venue and logistics,” said JG Zuma Foundation in a statement.

On Tuesday, the Constitutional Court found Zuma guilty of contempt of court following his defiance and deliberate refusal to appear at the Zondo commission probing allegations of state capture.

Zuma who was the state president for over 10 years is believed to have masterminded the looting of billions of rand in the state through lucrative contracts awarded to his close associates and powerful Gupta family.

Zuma was sentenced to 15 months direct imprisonment and given 5 days to turn himself in to begin serving his sentence failing which a warrant of his arrest will be issued hunting for his head.

Since the judgment Zuma has kept a low profile and only communicated his sentiments through his foundation.

In a show of force, his staunch supporters in KwaZulu-Natal have vowed that Zuma will not go to jail threatening bloodshed.

It has also emerged that Zuma had been busy with his lawyers giving them an instruction to file an urgent application pertaining to rescission of the ConCourt ruling.

The Con-Court has continued its firm stance in the Zuma matter, after sending an order to the Westville Correctional Center.

In a letter addressed to the head of the correctional center, Acting Chief of Justice Sisi Khampepe commanded the head of the prison, to receive Zuma into custody and deal with him in accordance with the law relating to prisons.
