All these incidents are threatening my marriage – Dumi Mkokstad

Award-winning South African gospel musician Dumi Mkokstad’s marriage is under threat.

This after it came to light that different women had been noticed coming in and out of his home in Mt Ayliff in the Eastern Cape and claiming to be Mkokstad’s wives.

The musician’s father, Falithenjwa Nzimande, told Sunday World this week that the women’s behaviour had been happening since 2020.

“Ever since he got married, we’ve been getting unexpected guests, and all of them claim to be Dumi’s wives or fiancés,” Nzimande said.

Nzimande said the first women to arrive at Mkokstad’s home came with a luggage full of her clothes and said she was from Sandton in Johannesburg.

“She said she received a prophecy from her bishop that she was Dumi’s chosen wife. She said that Dumi is married to the wrong woman and that she is the right one for him.

“We contacted Dumi and he had no knowledge of the woman. We then took her to the police station for her safety.

“I believe she was sent back to Johannesburg and we’ve never heard of her since then.”

A worried father

Nzimande told Sunday World that he is worried about his son.

“The latest incident happened last year when another woman came and claimed to be Dumi’s wife.

“She said she was from East London and claimed to be the chosen one for Dumi. She even had framed photos of Dumi and herself.

“I guess she took these photos at an event and decided to frame them. We also took her to the police station for her safety.”

Mkokstad confirmed the incidents and said: “The last one was taken to the police station, however, she found her way to my wife’s home in Pietermaritzburg [KwaZulu-Natal].

“We had to find a way of sending her back to wherever she came from. I am getting worried because I don’t know the meaning of this, or if someone is behind this.

“All these incidents happened after I got married and they are threatening my marriage.”

Sunday World tried to contact Mkokstad’s wife, Ziphozenkosi, but her cellphone went on voicemail.

Mkokstad and Ziphozenkosi tied the knot in a beautiful white wedding in 2019. Their union happened after many years of knowing each other and dating for eight months.

Mkokstad shared previously that he decided to keep their relationship private to avoid public scrutiny.

In December 2021, the lovebirds revealed that they were expecting their first child together. In September, they announced that they had been blessed with a second child.
