Family confirms rumours about Zahara’s weeklong hospitalisation

Multi award-winning songstress Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana has been in the hospital for a week now, her family has confirmed.

This after media reports surfaced recently that the Loliwe hitmaker has been admitted to the hospital for a liver-related disease.

On Monday, the musician’s family and team issued a statement thanking South Africans for the outpouring of love, support and compassion for Mkutukana.

The statement confirmed that Mkutukana has been admitted to the hospital, and said she has been receiving treatment for a week after she complained about pains.

“We wanted to take this opportunity as a family to express gratitude for the outpouring of love, support and compassion for our dearest Zahara since the recent media articles about the nature of her health,” said the family in a statement.

“Zahara has been admitted to the hospital for a week following complaints about physical pains. The doctors are working diligently and we await further updates from them.”

It has been highlighted that even though Zahara’s hospitalisation has been of confidentiality, there has been disingenuous information about the Umthwalo singer’s ill-health.

Family asks for privacy

“We want to stress that any reliable information regarding Zahara’s health will be communicated via her official social media platforms or by herself.

“In the meantime, we are asking for privacy on this matter and your continued prayers for the speedy recovery of our beloved Zahara.”

In June, Sunday World reported that the Eastern Cape-born sensation would be walking down the aisle this month in two wedding ceremonies.

Mkutukana got engaged to her boyfriend and engineer Mpho Xaba in March after dating for just six months.

A source close to the couple said the lovebirds are practically married, since Xaba spends most of his time at Mkutukana’s home in Ruimsig in the north of Johannesburg.

This was her third proposal after she was engaged to Umhlobo Wenene FM radio presenter Amaza Ntshanga in 2017.

In 2019, the singer reportedly got engaged to Ian Sibiya, but later broke off the engagement.
