Molemo Maarohanye’s legal team is expected to point out to possible contradictions in Masechaba Khumalo’s allegations that he broke her virginity when he allegedly raped her, according to a cop close to the case.
Masechaba claimed Maarohanye raped her when she was a virgin at his parental home in Naturena, southern Johannesburg.
She was 16 years when the alleged rape took place almost two decades ago.
This she said after she announced a few years ago on Podcast and Chill with MacG that her “first sexual encounter was with her stepfather when she was nine years old”.
“They are expected to use that to possibly poke holes in her argument,” said the cop.
They are also expected to piggyback on media statements his ex-girlfriend Amanda du-Pont made in the newspapers, admitting that although she was raped at some stage, Maarohanye was not the suspect.
The cop also said the lawyers are also expected to rebut ex-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s allegations that he raped and assaulted her as an attempt by the rapper to get back at him for saying she used muthi.
They also dispute his cousin’s version of events, said the cop, as a fabrication because she had failed to report the alleged abuse to the police.
“Although the trial is expected to start in November, Jub Jub’s lawyers indicated they will submit representations to the National Prosecuting Authority to withdraw the charges as they were baseless and without merits.
“This is going be an interesting case, especially given how divided the country is over this matter and xenophobic utterances we saw about Amanda after you guys published their stories.”
After the articles some South Africans accused Du-Pont of trying to destroy Maarohanye and asked her to go back to Eswatini where she was born.
Masechaba declined to comment. “I have no comment and I don’t want my name to be published in the story,” she said.
