Leeroy Sidambe faces arrest over papgeld

A warrant of arrest has been issued against influencer Mihlali Ndamase’s tycoon boyfriend Leeroy Sidambe over his failure to appear in court for a maintenance case for the child he sired with his ex-girlfriend.

The warrant was issued by the Booysens Magistrate’s Court in Joburg on March 3, and police were given three months to execute it. Signed by the clerk of the court, the warrant of arrest reads in parts: “If the warrant cannot be executed in three months from the date thereof, kindly return it to this office with your report.”

The child in question was conceived while Sidambe’s other girlfriend-turned-wife, Mary Jane, was also pregnant with his child. Mary Jane and Sidambe’s ex-girlfriend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, delivered the babies one month apart. News of Sidambe’s maintenance woes came to the fore when the woman, who was accompanied by Sandton police, went to Sidambe’s business premises in Sandton recently to serve him with a subpoena to appear in court. Speaking to Sunday World, a court official, who did not want to be named, said the woman met Sidambe when he was dating Mary-Jane around 2006.

At that time, said the mole, the woman did not know that Sidambe was also having a dalliance with Mary-Jane, whom he married in 2016, and dumped about three years ago. She said after a few rolls in the hay, the woman fell pregnant and gave birth to their son in February 2007, a month before Mary Jane.

The baby mama, who lives in Joburg south, said the deep throat, did not ask Sidambe to pay maintenance towards their son then because her minted mother was financially supporting her. The tipster said when the woman’s mother died in 2012, she went to court and obtained an order which forced Sidambe to pay her R4  000 per month in child support.

The informant said Sidambe had not increased the quantum since 2012 despite repeated requests by the woman to do so as she was struggling to make ends meet. The court official said Sidambe, who together with the revered social media influencer girlfriend flaunt their extravagant lifestyle on social media, also refused to include their son in his medical aid.

“The baby doesn’t exist in his life. All he does or says are empty promises. He can do everything for his friends but not his child,” said the official. The woman, who is unemployed, was not available for comment at the time of going to print.

But an affidavit she deposed to at Sandton police station paints a picture of a desperate woman who wants Sidambe, who lives in a R9-million house in Bryanston, to discharge his responsibility towards their son.

In the affidavit, which we have seen, the woman said she and the police went to Sidambe’s offices to serve the subpoena but couldn’t find him.

“When I arrived at the address, he was not there. Captain Shilubane, who accompanied me to the address, called Leeroy Sidambe on his cellphone and he said he was not on duty, he would only be available on Monday. He was made aware that day will be the date he has to be in court,” read the affidavit.

When contacted for comment, Sidambe feigned surprise, saying he knew nothing about the warrant of arrest.
