Kaizer Chiefs supporters cannot wait to watch new coach Cavin Johnson in charge of his first encounter when Amakhosi visit Golden Arrows at the weekend.
The match will be played at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday. Kick-off is at 3.30pm.
Chiefs parted ways with Molefi Ntseki on Monday and brought in Johnson as the interim coach to steer the sinking ship into calmer waters.
Amakhosi out of Carling Knockout
Amakhosi have not won any silverware since 2015 and their exit from the Carling Black Label Knockout at the hands of AmaZulu at the weekend was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Unruly fans turned violent and attacked Ntseki, who needed to be escorted out of the FNB Stadium by security guards and SA Police Service officials.
On Tuesday, the Premier Soccer League announced that the club will face another sanction by the league’s prosecutors following the misbehaviour of fans.
Die-hard Chiefs supporter
Dukes Machaka, one of die-hard Chiefs supporters, said: “He [Johnson] is stepping into a difficult territory, we welcome him like we did with Steve Komphela, Arthur Zwane, Stuart Baxter and Ntseki.
“His first game in charge will be very important – we are excited, and we cannot wait to start this new journey.
“We are playing against Golden Arrows who are very dangerous under Mabhuti Khenyeza. So, the first game is important to show what he’s going to change.
“The new coach needs to work on the players. The players, just like everyone, the management, the supporters are in a state of chaos.
“They do not know if they are going forward or backwards, it’s like they do not know each other or they do not train together.
“But we will support him. Maybe management is still looking for a new coach since they appointed Johnson in a caretaker capacity.
