The running community of Ekurhuleni and surrounding areas will gather at Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton on Sunday, 30 August for the annual Daveyton Hearts 10KM and Street Mile road running Event.
Hosted by Daveyton Hearts Athletics Club (DHAC) in partnership with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, the event aims to promote athletics, healthy lifestyles, and the development of young sporting talent in Daveyton.
The Street Mile is the highlight of the event and will give young athletes an opportunity to compete and showcase their talent. It will include Under-15, junior and senior categories for both males and females, with athletes competing over 1,6KM
The event will also feature a 10KM road race and a 5KM Fun Run/Walk, giving people of different ages and fitness levels an opportunity to participate. The races will take runners and walkers through the streets of Daveyton on clearly marked routes. This year, organisers are aiming to attract up to 1,000 participants and spectators.
Said DHAC chairperson Sipho Nxasana: “The club is committed to using sport to develop local talent, encourage physical activity and promote healthy lifestyles. The club also aims to create opportunities for young people to participate in organised sport and contribute positively to the community.”
The 2026 event is supported by local businesses and partners, including BRIMA, Daveyton Mall, Aquelle, Tshipi Noto, Mavusana Butchery, Vutha FM, Scarlet Capital, Red Bull and Simoko Construction. The event is endorsed by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and Central Gauteng Athletics.
“This is more than a running event, the Daveyton Hearts Street Mile is an opportunity to promote healthy living, support young athletes and bring the community together through sport. We are inviting residents, runners, walkers, families and supporters to come out and be part of this exciting community event,” Nxasana added.
