Kaizer Chiefs have on Saturday confirmed the departure of five players, including the goalkeeper coach as the club gears up for the upcoming DStv Premiership season.
Amakhosi also confirmed that they will be announcing the new coach and his technical team in due course. Tunisian international Nasreddine Nabi is said to be the official successor to Molefi Ntseki.
The Glamour Boys reported for duty at their club base in Naturena at the start of the week. This was for testing, assessments, and pre-season training.
Thorough review of the season
“As the management team, we are resolute in our determination to rectify the situation. And to ensure that we turn things around in the new season,” Chiefs said in a statement.
“We have thoroughly reviewed the season. And we have begun making appropriate changes as we get underway with preparations for the new season.
“Members of management and the technical team will be working tirelessly over the next few weeks. This will be to ensure that the team hits the ground running when the 2024/25 season begins at the start of August.
Coach Rainer Dinkelacker departure
“A few preliminary changes have been implemented. This in alignment with the contracts that were agreed upon at the start of, or during, the season. Coach Rainer Dinkelacker has left as per agreement. …He was recalled at the start of the season to assist in the goalkeeping department.
“We thank him and his family for allowing him to leave Germany and rejoin the team to share his knowledge with the coaches and our goalkeepers.”
Amakhosi also confirmed that they will not be triggering the buy-option of Colombian striker Efmamjjasond Gonzalez and will be returning to his mother Club, Real Santa Cruz, in Bolivia.
Gonzalez made 13 appearances and failed to register a single goal or assist.
“The Club has conducted discussions with various players’ representatives and technical staff. This is with regards to their respective contractual situations,” Chiefs added.
Players released, new coach coming in
“There have been some decisions made, though. And the following players have been released at the end of their contracts. Keagan Dolly, Siyethemba Sithebe, defender S’fiso Hlanti, and another defender Njabulo Ngcobo. The Club will communicate further changes to the personnel as they happen.
“Lastly, as we plan to start another season, the Club will soon announce the new coach and his technical team. They will be tasked with guiding the team back to winning ways as we approach our 55th anniversary in the next season.”
Chiefs finished their 2023/24 DStv Premiership season in the bottom half of the table at number 10.
