Bafana wrap up friendlies with impressive win over Mozambique

The new crop of Bafana Bafana players dished out their best performance when they beat Mozambique 2-0 in a one-sided international friendly match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night.

Sinoxolo Kwayiba and substitute, Ashley Cupido scored the all-important goals in the 46th and 69th minute respectively.

Bafana could have wrapped up the game in the first 20 minutes of the first half with more than three goals, but their chances were dwarfed by the Mamba’s agile goalkeeper, Ernan Siluane who proved his worth between the goalposts.

Siluane saved his side from some early nightmares when he blocked Mohau Nkota’s attempt in the early minutes before he could made more countless saves, including from Relebogile Mofokeng and Kwayiba’s attempts with goal written all over their shots on target in the 16th and 18th minutes respectively.

The deadly combination of Nkota, Kwayiba and Mofokeng exposed the disjointed Mozambique defenders, as they searched for an early goal but to no avail.

It was only in the second half that Hugo Broos’ troops got things right, when Kwayiba who was making his second Bafana appearance and was voted Man of the Match, headed home in the 46th minute. This after the Chippa United talisman had connected with a Nkota’s well taken corner kick.

Super-sub Cupido made it 2-0 with a volley in the 69th minute after he received a pass from workaholic, Nkota who capitalized on the Mambas defenders’ poor clearance to give Bafana the deserving victory.
