“Watch the space.” This is the message Kaizer Chiefs marketing and commercial director Jessica Motaung has for the Amakhosi fans regarding the new kit.
The Glamour Boys will be unveiling their new gear for the upcoming 2024/2025 Betway Premiership season at the Kaizer Chiefs village, in Naturena on Thursday.
As crosstown rival fans of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are beaming with excitement about their new kits, Amakhosi fans will be next. Motaung says Amakhosi fans are in for a treat as they deliver a kit that they will wear with pride.
Excited about the new kit
“I’m excited about the new kit and I’m saying to our supporters ‘watch this space’. It’s going to be a big day, and we always deliver,” Motaung said. She made the comments after they arrived at the OR Tambo International Airport. The team was coming from their pre-season tour in Turkey on Wednesday evening.
“I am looking forward to them really embracing it, wearing it with pride. And really supporting the team. It’s a big day.”
Motaung arrived with the entire Chiefs squad, including newly appointed coach Nasreddine Nabi. He led the team as he saluted the fans who were present and chanted his name to welcome them at the airport.
Supporters to see new coach in action first time
Amakhosi supporters will see Nabi and his side in action for the first time on Sunday. This when he locks horns against his former side Young Africans of Tanzania in the inaugural Toyota Cup. The match takes place at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
Motaung expressed her excitement for the Toyota Cup. She called on football lovers in Bloemfontein to come out in their numbers.
“We’re excited about the inaugural Toyota Cup, we’ve worked extensively with our sponsors and are excited for the coach. It will be interesting for him to play his former team as well,” Motaung said.
“I must say it’s quite a showpiece, we’re excited to go to Bloem! We’re honouring what Bloem has done for football. And we’re saying to our supporters, come out and have a great time.”
Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtics legends will be the curtain raisers of the cup competition. That will be before Chiefs and Yanga battle it out for the ultimate prize at 3pm.
