Four regions have joined Safa national executive committee members Gladwyn White and Monde Montshiwa in their fight to force president Danny Jordaan to step down after he was charged with fraud and corruption.
The regions are Utukela FA, Doctor Kenneth Kaunda, Joe Gqabi, and Francise Baart
This was confirmed by White and Montshiwa, who said the four regions will bolster their campaign to remove Jordaan and to restore integrity and accountability in the body.
The regions will submit motions for consideration at the upcoming congress in which
recent leadership crises and the arrest of key executives will be addressed.
The deliberation aims at ensuring that Safa returns to administering and developing
football within the statutes of Fifa and Safa’s constitution.
The rebellious duo compiled scathing written reports, accusing the association of not upholding ethical standards.
Its main objective is to have Jordaan step aside after he was arrested last year and appeared in court for fraud and corruption. Jordaan is out on bail and his case will resume in August.
“Safa is in high care unit, and the arrogance of that cartel at the helm has reached alarming levels. What was once an institution meant to drive football development has been reduced to a playground for a self-serving cartel that operates with impunity, evading accountability while suffocating the game we love,” White said.
“Reports indicate that Safa’s leadership is running scared, illegally postponing meetings to avoid scrutiny and accountability.
“There is ill-treatment of women under a female CEO (Lydia Monyepao). While Safa is administratively led by a woman, she stands accused of mistreating fellow women within the organisation,” he said.
In his outburst, Montshiwa explained that the 52 regions across South Africa have not been paid their R40 000 a month allowances for over three years.
Safa CEO Monyepao was not available to comment.
