TS Galaxy looking to take out league wrath on Spears

Set to be entering the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal tie against Jacksa Spears this afternoon, TS Galaxy will be looking to take out their vex from their poor run of form in the Betway Premiership on the amateur league side.

Galaxy will host the ABC Motsepe League outfit at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, today at 3pm.

Despite enjoying a good run in the Nedbank, which included eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns, it has not been the case for the Rockets in the league, having lost five straight games in the league.

“We are aware of our current form in the league, and the coach said as a team, we need to make sure we try and get the players back and focused on returning to winning ways,” said Galaxy assistant coach Bernard Parker, who will be leading the team due to the suspension of head coach Adnan Beganovic.

“Also, the magic of the Nedbank Cup has shown over the years what it can do. Sometimes on the day, you can be surprised by a smaller team, so we must treat this game as a cup game and give it our all without focusing much on our league form.

“I remember the 2019 final very well when I was at Kaizer Chiefs. Unfortunately, I was on the losing side, but this time around I want to be on the winning side and get a Nedbank Cup medal as a coach.”

Galaxy will be going up against a Jacksa Spears side that is not so well-known, but Parker says they are not too worried about that, as their analysts have done due diligence in retrieving all the necessary intel about their opponents.

“We haven’t got much information on Jacksa Stars, but we do have top analysts who have taken necessary steps in getting as much footage as possible on them, and we are satisfied with what we got,” Parker added.

Spears is a team based in Magareng in the Northern Cape, and reached the quarterfinal stage of the competition by beating fellow amateurs Cardinals in the first round and Vasco Da Gama in the Last 16.

Golden Arrows and Durban City will also be in action in the KZN Derby at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
