I will come back stronger, says injured PSG superstar Neymar Jr

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Neymar Jr has reacted to news that his season is over after he picked up another ankle injury.

Neymar Jr was stretchered off the pitch during a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Lille in a league encounter in February.

PSG confirmed that the 31-year-old will undergo surgery that is set to keep him out of action for the next three to four months.

“Neymar Jr has presented several episodes of instability of the right ankle in recent years,” PSG said in a statement.

“Following his last sprain on February 20, the Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity.”

The Brazilian star tweeted on social media: “I’ll come back stronger.”

The former Barcelona midfield maestro has a history of injuries on his right ankle, with the most recent incident being at the World Cup during Brazil’s 2-0 triumph over Serbia.

The injury presents coach Christophe Galtier with a big headache, as his side prepares for an all-important clash with Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday night.

PSG trail the German giants 1-0 and will be relying heavily on Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe to inspire the side to victory.
