Kaizer Chiefs embark on off-season African safari

Kaizer Chiefs will soon head off on a pre-season African tour that will see them participate in exciting friendly matches in Tanzania and Botswana.

On Saturday July 22, Kaizer Chiefs will face Young Africans SC in Dar es Salaam at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium, which is Tanzania’s national stadium. ‘Yanga’, as they are known, are the double defending Tanzanian champions and had six of their players called up to the Taifa Stars squad for Tanzania’s Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Niger last month.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 7pm.

A week later on Saturday July 29, the Glamour Boys will meet Township Rollers at Botswana’s National Stadium in Gaborone for a 3pm kick off.

Rollers are the most successful team in the country’s history (having won more league titles and cups than any of their domestic rivals) and being the country’s best supported club, with ‘Popa’ fans renowned for being the most passionate in the land.

With the appointment of Molefi Ntseki as the new head coach and fairly substantial changes to the first team squad at Naturena, these fixtures against testing opposition, in what are expected to be packed stadiums, will afford Ntseki a valuable opportunity to bed in some new faces and put some of his tactical ideas into practice.

“These two matches against excellent teams will give me a chance to have a good look at our players and gauge the team in a proper match situation, and assess where we are in our preparations for the new season,” says the new Head Coach.

Excitement is already building in Tanzania and Botswana as football fans await the arrival of the Mighty Kaizer Chiefs – one of Africa’s most famous Clubs, with an almost mythical status on the continent – with eager anticipation. – kaizerchiefs.com.
