Nedbank Cup champions Kaizer Chiefs almost broke the internet on Tuesday when they unveiled several new signings ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.
The club gradually revealed the new names, keeping their ardent supporters enthralled and captivated throughout the day.
Nkanyiso Shinga, 25, Ethan Chislett, and Flavio Silva are among the new players who will don the renowned black and gold Glamour Boys’ gear when the season begins in August.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Amakhosi said: “We are pleased to announce the signing of Portuguese striker Flávio Silva from Persebaya Surabaya in Indonesia. The Guinea-Bissau-born player will wear jersey number 77. Welcome to the family.
“We are pleased to announce the signing of 26-year-old Ethan Chislett, an attacking midfielder known for his creative abilities. Welcome to the family. We are also pleased to announce the signing of 25-year-old Nkanyiso Shinga.
“The talented left-back is a versatile operator who can also play in midfield and attack. He will don jersey number 74. Welcome to the family.”
The trio comes with experience
Chislett spent his early years with Southampton, Aldershot Town, Metropolitan Police, and Basingstoke Town, but he grew rapidly during a stint in Spain with Reddis.
Chislett most recently played as a midfielder for EFL League One team Port Vale.
Shinga is a product of the incredible Durban-based KZN Academy that has unearthed players such as Bafana Bafana holding midfielder Yeye Sithole, among many others.
Shinga joined Vitoria Setubal in Portugal in 2018 before moving across to CD Pinhalnovense in 2020.
Silva is a former Benfica player in Portugal’s top-tier league.
In 2015, the 29-year-old was loaned out to Covilha, but he terminated his contract with the club and returned to Benfica.
After Benfica ended his contract in February 2025, he joined Persik Kediri of Indonesia.
