Kaizer Motaung Jnr confirms Amakhosi will make more signings

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has confirmed that there will be more player acquisitions ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

“Yes, there are definitely [more signings]. We’re working tirelessly and meticulously behind the scenes to make sure we bring in the right players, who will help us achieve our objectives.”

Motaung Jnr said this during the kit launch at the Chiefs village on Thursday night.

“There are some glaring positions in the squad that we need to reinforce. We have a young squad at the moment, and it needs a little bit of experience and quality.

“So, we are very mindful of the demands placed on what is coming next season. We have a clear roadmap for the kind of players we need for each position.”

Fans urged to exercise patience

Motaung Jnr has since pleaded with the Amakhosi fanbase to be patient with newly appointed coach Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team.

“I think we are very privileged to have the technical staff that we have with coach Nabi. He’s the new coach, an excellent coach. And what we ask, and we pray for is the patience from our supporters,” he said.

“We pray for patience from our Amakhosi faithful. That’s because this is a year where we’re going to reconstruct our squad.”

He said the team will reconstruct who they are as a club from the inside out.

“We know our fans have high expectations. And we also set high goals for ourselves, but we wanna be realistic.

“We want the Amakhosi faithful to back the players, back the coach. The technical staff will need time to be able to influence their philosophy and bring about t he change. So we ask for patience and support. And for us to be able to take the steps gradually to where we want to be.”

Turkish delight aa much-needed getaway

Motaung Jnr also emphasised the importance of spending three weeks in Turkey for their pre-season camp. He said that it has given the team time to regroup away from home.

“I think [the trip] was an important part of our plan for the technical staff. We had three weeks. It’s given the club the time to come together as a group, with the technical staff and their new ideas.

“I think that it was very grueling, intense pre-season, good fixtures and good tests. It’s always very important in pre-season to make sure you get away, for morale, for team spirit. And, a new environment where you can solely focus on the task at hand.

“So, I think it was very important for the club, I think we’ve done very well so far. And yeah, looking forward to the next steps,” he said.
