“For us it will be a cup final before the final against Mamelodi Sundowns,” that is at least according to embattled Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki.
Amakhosi will be travelling to Atteridgeville in Pretoria, where they will be crossing swords with Sundowns in an MTN8 semifinal second leg encounter on Saturday afternoon.
Kick-off time is at 3pm.
It goes without saying that Ntseki is under immense pressure to deliver results and put a smile back to the Amakhosi supporters – who have visibly shown their frustrations towards the coach following a string of poor results.
Ahead of the must-win clash, the former Bafana Bafana coach said the game would be a cup final for them more than anything else.
“It’s going to be a tough one, we always look at Sundowns to be a very good competitor when it comes to the game itself,” Ntseki said.
“The competition will be more on the pitch and more about the tactics the two clubs will be deploying.
“We have done our preparations and we are looking forward to implementing the tactical ideas we have. It’s a cup final.”
Despite all the scenes playing out at Naturena, Ntseki said his troops were well prepared and looking forward to the must-win encounter.
“The players are looking sharp and very positive going into this game. It will be more of a mental, highly tactical, and demanding game,” he said.
“From within the club, and from us as individuals, the objective is to see ourselves in the final, and hopefully winning the final.”
The Glamour Boys will be hoping that the arrival of Cavin Johnson at the club will serve as a morale booster against Masandawana.
Johnson was announced as the head of academy on Friday evening, which will include full oversight of Amakhosi’s youth structures and scouting network.
