Mdaka hints at his future after U20 World Cup setback

Amajita coach Raymond Mdaka has, without giving much away, hinted at what his future might look like following a disappointing ending at the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
South Africa were eliminated in the round of 16 when they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Colombia last week.
Mdaka, who has already won the Under-20 Cosafa Cup, the maiden Africa Cup of Nations, and guided Amajita to the World Cup, defined his tenure with the junior national team as a good experience.
“For me personally, it’s just like the experience that one got [to coach Amajita] and knowing that when you get that opportunity, you will always have that added knowledge in terms of how you approach situations,” Mdaka told Sunday World yesterday.
“But again, you always want a situation where maybe you have enough time to prepare [for big tournaments].
“There are some situations and environments where you don’t have that luxury.”
On the issue of preparations, Mdaka conceded that his team would have had a better fighting chance against some of the best nations in the world if they had adequately prepared.
“You also look at other teams that prepared well and got the support they needed. You need a situation where you should have played maybe three, four international games with other countries. Just look at the first game [against France], you could see that it looked like we were caught up.
“But I think with good preparation, with good support [from the SA Football Association], we could have done better,” Mdaka added.
