Mosimane’s Al Ahli Saudi back to winning ways after 3-1 win

Pitso Mosimane’s Al-Ahli Saudi are back to its winning ways after beating Hajer Club 3-1 at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The victory comes after Pitso, and his charges played to a goalless draw with Al-Ain in their Saudi Arabia second division league opening encounter last week following the World Cup break.

Mosimane’s side started on a front foot in the early opening minutes of the game when Ryad Boudebouz scored the opening goal in the 11th minute.

Ziyad Al-Johani soon registered the second goal of the evening in the 32nd minute to put his side in the driving seat going into half time.

Al Ahli picked up from where they left off in the first stanza and dominated the opening ten minutes of the second half.

Hassan Al Ali banged in the third goal in the 68th minute, to put his side in a comfortable 3-0 lead.

However, the visitors also got in the score sheet in the dying stages of the game when Malian born striker, Modibo Maiga, scored a consolation goal for his side in stoppage time.

The victory means that Al Ahli moved up to fifth position with 19 points in ten games, seven points behind the log leaders Al-Faisaly FC.

The South African born coach will look to keep up the momentum and maintain his unbeaten run when they visit Al Arabi in a league match next week Tuesday.
