The name Muzomuhle Khanyi may not resonate with many in the country’s football fraternity, yet the newly acquired Stellenbosch FC striker is among the most
significant signings in the Betway Premiership.
The 26-year-old, who was recently signed by the Western Cape club, enjoyed a remarkably successful season with his former team, Hungry Lions, competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He concluded his stellar campaign with an impressive tally of 17 league goals, which earned him the coveted 2024/25 Golden Boot Award.
Although the Kimberley-based outfit from Northern Cape did not fare well in the league, finishing in 13th position, Khanyi stood out individually, striking fear in the hearts of defenders and goalkeepers by contributing 17 goals out of the club’s total of 35.
“It’s an honour to join a club with the winning mentality of Stellenbosch FC. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career, and I already feel at home.
“I’m here to learn. I understand it’s going to be challenging as I acclimatise, but I aspire to maintain the form I exhibited last season.”
Stellenbosch compete in an intensely competitive league, having finished third on the log at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, thereby qualifying for their second participation in the CAF Confederations Cup.
