New signee Luke Fleurs ready to deliver silverware for Amakhosi

Kaizer Chiefs new signing Luke Fleurs is determined and revved up to get started on the mammoth task of winning silverware at Amakhosi.

On Thursday, Chiefs announced that Fleurs penned a two-year deal with an option to extend for a further season.

The 23-year-old defender has been training with Amakhosi since terminating his contract with SuperSport United a week before the transfer window closed in September.

Signed outside the transfer window

Chiefs were able to sign him outside the transfer window, as he was unattached.

In a statement, Fleurs expressed his excitement of signing for Chiefs, saying he is ready to help the team get back to winning ways and ultimately steer the team back to glory days.

“I feel so pleased to sign because I always wanted to be part of the Glamour Boys,” Fleurs said.

“There is a great bond here; it has that family feel. I just wanted to get started on the job of winning silverware. This is the biggest club and I want to help us win things.

“We have been training well and I am used to the set-up. Results haven’t been going our way lately, but we will turn it around through hard work, because there is great talent here and we will get it right.”

Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr said the club is excited to have secured the services of the U-23 international.

“We are very excited and happy to have Luke join us,” Motaung Jnr said.

“The young man has great technical abilities and I think he will fit really well into how we want to approach the game and the kind of football we would like to play going forward.”

Amakhosi also confirmed that Fleurs will be available for selection and could make his debut when they take on Golden Arrows in their DStv Premiership match at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Durban on Saturday afternoon.

Kick-off is at 3pm.
