Coach Pitso Mosimane is weighing up his options while he finalising his exit from Saudi Arabia club Al Ahli.
Even though Mosimane promoted the club back into the country’s premier division, the Pro League, he is officially leaving the club, according to Mosimane’s business manager and wife Moira Tlhagale.
“Yes, coach Pitso has officially resigned from Al Ahli. We are getting a lot of calls from the Middle East and from the Gulf region. We are still on holiday will be back in South Africa on Friday. We will keep on talking to interested parties until we get the right combination and the right fit,” Tlhagale told Sunday World on Wednesday.
Even though all the signs are leading to the Middle East, Tlhagale, when asked about Mosimane’s possible return to the PSL, did not dismiss the possibilities.
“We are not sure about the coach returning to South Africa in the PSL – you can’t say yes or no, we cannot rule out anything out,” she added.
In recent weeks, Mosimane has been linked with a move to Tunisian giants Esperance, the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Struggling PSL glamour club Kaizer Chiefs have also been mentioned.
Tlhagale said they have not spoken to any national team after it emerged that one of the continent’s leading countries were keen on acquiring the services of the former Bafana Bafana coach.
“I hear that there are rumours of a national team in Africa having contacted the coach but we have not received any official approach from any national team,” she explained further.
Mosimane and his technical team members Kabelo Rangoaga, Musi Matlaba, Kyle Solomon and Maahier Davids were given a rather bad treatment after they were not paid their salaries by Ahli for months. They were on the verge of approaching FIFA to intervene in the matter of the outstanding salaries and bonuses.
On Saturday, Mosimane will be launching his much-talked about School’s Sport project in Sandton, Johannesburg, together with the MT Sports Marketing and Management team.
