PSL prosecutor slaps Amakhosi with charge of misconduct

Kaizer Chiefs have been hit with a charge of misconduct after their supporters threw an assortment of missiles onto the pitch and in the direction of coach Molefi Ntseki on Sunday.

The supporters caused chaos as they bayed for Ntseki’s blood after Amakhosi suffered their second successive league loss. They lost 1-0 to TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium.

Chiefs have had a stuttering start to the new DStv Premiership, registering a single point in three outings.

The Glamour Boys drew with Chippa United in their season opener and lost to both Mamelodi Sundowns and Galaxy in their last two matches.

The fans are frustrated by the lack of results and are venting out their frustration and unhappiness on newly appointed coach Ntseki.

Amakhosi are not the feared side they used to be in the past.

The former Bafana Bafana coach needed to be escorted out of the stadium by security guards and police officials.

Announcing the decision to charge Chiefs on Tuesday night, Premier Soccer League (PSL) prosecutor Zola Majavu said: “I confirm that I preferred charges of misconduct against Kaizer Chiefs FC.

“This is as a result of a missile-throwing incident that transpired in a match between themselves and TS Galaxy this past Sunday.

“They have been scheduled to appear before the PSL disciplinary committee [DC] on Tuesday. Once the DC has pronounced its verdict and the matter is finalised, I will then give a further update.”

Last season, former coach Arthur Zwane also left a few matches under police guard when supporters voiced their unhappiness with results that were not forthcoming.

Zwane was replaced with Ntseki just before the news season started.
