Rebellious SAFA NEC members to hold gathering fittingly on June 16

Disgruntled members of the South African Football Association (SAFA) NEC members have invited all football stakeholders for a national gathering and dialogue on June 16 to discuss the current discourse in SA football and to arrest the anomaly permanently.

The organisers of the National Dialogue 4 Change 2 Rescue SAFA will host a virtual Indaba for the stakeholders to “SAVE OUR SAFA”.

Rebellious NEC members

The organisers and speakers are the rebellious NEC members Gladwyn White and Monde Montshiwa. Also Mosimanegape Mathe, Orapeleng Setlhare and Lebogang Riet, who will be the programme director. And they have been vocal in their battle against the current leadership of SAFA President Danny Jordaan and the way the national association is being run.

They have invited coaches, referees, stakeholders, women football representatives, football administrators, and legal eagles to be part of the discussions to rescue the sport and take the game to the next level.

They say that they have fittingly chosen the historic June 16 holiday to voice their grievances.

Some of the matters that will be thrashed out are “rebuilding trust, fix what’s broken and governance challenges. Also restoration and commercialisation, transparent and ethical leadership, and also statutory and legal framework”. They will also discuss “the role of women and associate members. As well as grassroots competitions and marginalisation of grassroots stakeholders. Youth development and feedback from breakaway groups too”.

Said White: “It’s a national dialogue intended to consult with the rest of the football stakeholders. All from the various components of the puzzle.

Intensifying robust dialogue

“The dialogue is extremely essential following a very sound and successful Regional Convention Tours. This …took place over the past three weeks, clustering three provinces per session. And it wrapped up with the Associate Members and former players subscribing to SA Masters and Legends.

“The dialogue will address important questions through breakaway sessions. These will be led by credible professionals specialising in those fields assigned. The ideal for bringing specialists in the fields separated from the ‘SAFA Forces 4 Change 2 Rescue & Save our Safa’ is a clear strategy. It is eliminating any thoughts of gatekeeping. And it’s perhaps trying to claim ownership of the current human-made challenges confronting our football by the front row leaders,” he added.
