After their positive start in the Betway Premiership this season, Kaizer Chiefs will look to record their third win in a row. But standing in their way is a heavily wounded Richards Bay.
Amakhosi will host the Bay at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night. The game will get underway at 7.30pm.
The Glamour Boys are sitting at number 2 on the league standings with six points after winning back-to-back matches. The Natal Rich Boys, on the other hand, are already in the relegation zone at number 15 with nothing to show after two games.
Chiefs have not won three consecutive matches since the end of the year 2023. And they will be desperate to get the monkey off their back.
Mental focus on Richards Bay
“Our target this season is to firstly keep our players always mentally ready for the next game. We have Richards Bay next, and all our mental focus is on Richards Bay. And once we are finished with this game, we start thinking about the next game,” said Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef.
“This week we had some time to work and correct our mistakes and improve some offensive qualities for our players. When we finished last season, we made an analysis and saw that it was tough for us with the problem of conceding a lot of goals.
“Our target in pre-season was defensive work on how we correct and how we improve our defence. After two games now and two clean sheets, I think we have succeeded on this point.
“Offensive — there is a lot of thinking inside, there is individual quality. There is team quality, and we know our mistakes, and we try to correct them at training. There is a lot of technical thinking and the team idea on how we play.”
