South African Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan has congratulated Banyana Banyana on their triumphant wins through to the finals of the Women’s Cup of Nations (Wafcon) tournament in Morocco.
On Monday night, the South African women’s national soccer team defeated Zambia 1-0 in a semi-final of the continental showpiece.
Banyana scored the treasured winning goal from the penalty spot after Linda Motlhalo converted deep in stoppage-time.
“Banyana Banyana achieved this feat on Mandela Day and marked it by clinching a place in the final. We send our congratulations to the team after this massive effort,” said Jordaan.
Banyana will face the hosts, Morocco, in the final on Saturday.
