Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has tipped new acquisition Sibongiseni Mthethwa to make a positive impact when he takes to the field for Amakhosi.
Chiefs secured the services of the 29-year-old midfield workhorse from Stellenbosch FC on Thursday, a day before the transfer window deadline.
Speaking to the media ahead of their MTN8 semifinal second leg at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday, Ntseki said Mthethwa will bring stability.
“You need to build a very strong team because it is not only about this season, but seasons to come,” Ntseki told the media at Premier Soccer League headquarters on Thursday.
“This is so that we can have stability in the team, because we are building a team for seasons to come. He will be bringing that stability, he is a good quality player,” he said.
“Good quality players will always come into the team to add value and we are looking at him to come and add value.”
Mthethwa comes to Naturena at an unpleasant time following unsavoury scenes at the Peter Mokaba Stadium midweek where Amakhosi supporters pelted Ntseki with objects after a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United.
Amakhosi marketing director Jessica Motaung has since pleaded with the supporters to not resort to violence, saying they should instead support the embattled coach.
“We are very disappointed with what happened yesterday [Wednesday],” she said after a media briefing.
“It was a very disappointing conduct, and for us, it is to say we condemn the violence – the club does not condone violence.
“Going into a game like this weekend’s, regardless of the result, we expect to see the supporters saying to the team ‘we rally behind you’, supporting the coach and the players to do their jobs.”
