Following their first-leg matches in the MTN8 semifinal, Stellenbosch FC and Orlando Pirates will return to Betway Premiership action on Wednesday night when they play at Orlando Stadium.
Pirates, desperate to score their first points at home after two league losses, enter the match wounded.
Bucs, who finished second in the Premier Soccer League the previous season, are now in position 15 after two games.
Standing in their way to improve their log position is coach Steve Barker’s side that will be looking to rub salt on Pirates’ wound and cause more pain to their fanbase.
Stellies are in position 13 after two games, with one draw and a loss.
Last season, the Buccaneers saw their seven-game winning run ended by Stellies in their backyard, and the Sea Robbers coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will look to avoid a repeat.
Ahead of the match, Stellies defender Kazie Enyinnaya said they are expecting a tough battle in Orlando but are confident that they have what it takes to walk away with maximum points.
Stellies anticipate tough match
“It’s going to be a tough game, but we have trained and prepared well for it,” Enyinnaya said.
“We know what’s coming, but I also know what this team’s players can do. We must keep pushing and get something against Pirates to build on the club’s start to the season.
“The aim is always to improve, so we want to build on what we achieved last season, starting on Wednesday.”
After their impressive 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 semifinal first leg at the weekend, Stellies go into the match with a renewed sense of confidence.
Enyinna was on the score sheet for the team from the Winelands against Babina Noko and expressed his expectation for more goals
“I was thrilled to score my first goal in the maroon jersey. This is something I have been working on, and I believe more goals are on their way,” said the Nigerian international.
“I’m working hard and putting in my best to improve and help the team with more goals.”
