Despite highlighting that they haven’t had water at their hotel, Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurčić says the team is in high spirits and delighted to play in the CAF Champions League final.
Pyramids will face off against the reigning Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
“We have an excellent feeling, the only thing is that we don’t have water in the hotel, that’s the only problem, other than that, we are excellent,” Jurčić said during a press conference on Friday afternoon.
“We’re very happy to be playing in the final of the Champions League. I will repeat what I said before, this can be one big reward for us. We are having an excellent season that we need to finish in the best way we can.
“We have a very good team, very good atmosphere. We’re playing a good team with bigger experience than us, especially in the Champions League, but we’ve been good this season and the players are ready. Supporters who will watch this match will enjoy this.”
Pyramids are enjoying one of their best seasons ever as they are also leading the Egyptian Premier League ahead of Al Ahly.
The Egyptian outfit reached the final of the Champions League when they stunned and eliminated Orlando Pirates in the semi-finals to set up a meeting with Sundowns.
Despite coaching some of the biggest teams in Europe, the well-travelled former Dinamo Zagreb and Saudi Arabia national team coach, admitted that the final against Masandawana is the biggest game of his career.
“Tomorrow [Saturday] is the biggest match of my career, and this is enough motivation that I will do everything I can to ensure that we win in these two matches.
“Pyramids are competing on all fronts, and in just ten days, we will play three finals across three different competitions.
“It will be the first time in history that a team plays a decisive Egyptian Premier League match between two legs of the CAF Champions League final,” Jurčić concluded.
