Football coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has left Chippa United as the club technical director.
This comes less than two months into the job at the Eastern Cape, after leaving his job at Golden Arrows.
Leaving Arrows shocked the football fraternity as the Durban-based club was on a high when Vilakazi tendered his resignation.
In their statement on Thursday night, Chippa United said they were shocked by Vilakazi’s sudden departure.
“Chippa United FC wishes to announce that Vusumuzi Vilakazi has resigned from his position as technical director,” the club said.
“While his tenure with us was unexpectedly brief, we respect Mr Vusumuzi’s decision to step down.
“Mr Vilakazi’s decision has indeed come as a surprise as we had looked forward to longer collaboration, drawing on his fresh perspective and youthful vigour.
“However, we respect his choice to peruse the next chapter in his professional journey.
“In moving forward, we thank Mr Vilakazi for his service and close this chapter with mutual respect and goodwill.”
More co-coach woes
Meanwhile, the outspoken head coach Morgan Mammila will once again steer the Chilli Boys ship single-handedly.
This after then assistant coach Siyabulela Gwambi also surprisingly parted ways with the club.
The reason behind his departure is still unknown.
However, the changing of coaching personnel at the Gqeberha-based outfit is predicted to be persistent throughout the season.
Chippa have been on a somewhat downward trajectory.
Their last victory came in late September when they edged SuperSport United 1-0.
They will be desperate to return to their winning ways when they host Stellenbosch FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Kick-off on Saturday night is at 8pm.
