Arthur Zwane has hit back at Junior Khanye’s criticism of his performance since he took over as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs.
This after the controversial football analyst told Sunday World over a week ago that he is not convinced that Zwane is the right man for the job.
The former Chiefs dribbling wizard went as far as saying the supporters should not raise hopes that Zwane will deliver silverware at the club, including the Nedbank Cup.
Speaking during the Nedbank Cup quarter-final draw at SuperSport Studios in Randburg, Johannesburg on Monday evening, Zwane acknowledged criticism.
However, he arrogantly suggested that he will never go as far as having a back and forth argument with Khanye.
“Critics are part of the game, it’s his opinion. I respect his opinion as a former player,” Zwane said.
“By the way, who am I to go down to the level of Junior Khanye. This is football, I respect everyone, that is his opinion and I love it.”
It is no secret that Zwane’s first season with Amakhosi has been inconsistent, with his troops not delivering when it matters the most.
As a result, some supporters have been calling for his head.
Amakhosi are in contention to finish on position two in the DStv Premiership log table and secure the CAF Champions League spot.
The Soweto giants are currently on fourth position, level on 34 points with Orlando Pirates and five points behind SuperSport United who occupy position two with 39 points.
Having already missed out on the MTN8 and the league title out of reach, Zwane is under pressure to deliver the Nedbank Cup and end Amakhosi’s eight-year trophy drought.
Chiefs will come up against Royal AM in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals.
