Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has admitted to making mistakes but has learnt many lessons in his first season in the hot seat with the Glamour Boys.
Amakhosi have had an uninspiring DStv Premiership campaign clouded by injuries and inconsistent results – which has since put Zwane and his troops under immense pressure to finish the season on a high by winning the Nedbank Cup.
Ahead of the big Nedbank Cup semi-final clash against Orlando Pirates on Saturday at the FNB Stadium, Zwane acknowledged that Chiefs had a disappointing campaign, however, they won’t be dwelling on the past but look forward to the all-important Soweto derby.
“So much happened in terms of injuries, inconsistency, and chances that we created and missed,” Zwane said.
“But it’s part of the game, hence I can’t blame players because I was once a player and I also made mistakes.
“I also made mistakes as a coach this season, it is part of the game and learning. We have, however, moved on from those mistakes, we thought at some point we had rectified them, but we still make those costly mistakes.
“The only best thing we can do is to focus on the next game and forget about the past, because it will not help us right now.”
With the Nedbank Cup trophy seemingly the only thing left to fight for this season for the Soweto giants, Amakhosi will be expected to go out guns blazing against their rivals Pirates at the weekend.
Kick-off time is at 3pm.
