Domestic football returned with a bang at the weekend after a two-week long international break that saw Mamelodi Sundowns being confirmed champions earlier than expected.
There was also some cricket festivity, as some Proteas players put out a brilliant show to make personal records on a special occasion.
Here are some of the highlights of the best moments over the weekend:
Sundowns confirmed league champions for record sixth time
Mamelodi Sundowns were confirmed as the DStv Premiership champions for a record six consecutive time in the Premier Soccer League era on Saturday.
With just seven games to go until the end of the season, that means Sundowns will receive a guard of honour until they are handed their trophy on May 20.
AC Milan hand Napoli 4-0 thumping
High-flying Italian Serie A log leaders Napoli were humbled by reigning scudetto champions AC Milan when they were given a 4-0 walloping at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday night. Napoli are still 20 points adrift Milan and 16 points ahead of second-placed Lazio.
Chelsea sack struggling Graham Potter
English Premier League side Chelsea parted ways with embattled manager Graham Potter on Sunday night. The decision was long coming, as Potter was skating on thin ice after a string of poor results since his appointment in September 2022.
Markram, Magala inspire Proteas’ win against Netherlands
The 146-runs victory during the “Pink Day” by the Proteas against Netherlands saw star batsman Aiden Markram and seamer bowler Sisanda Magala display one of the best performances of their careers at the Wanderers Stadium on Sunday.
Markram recorded his maiden One Day International (ODI) century with incredible 175 runs off 126 balls, while Magala picked up a first ODI five-wicket haul.
Gallants turn things around in CAF Confederation Group A
DStv Premiership side Marumo Gallants overturned a 2-0 first-half deficit to win 3-2 against Saint Eloi Lupopo in their last CAF Confederations Cup Group A encounter on Sunday night.
Gallants top the group and march on to the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in their history.
