Johannesburg – Springboks centre Damian de Allende has reportedly been linked with a possible move to England, this has been confirmed by reports in Europe.
The 30-year-old is believed to be out of contract at Thomond Park at the end of the current season, and the club has no interest in retaining Springbok’s winger.
The reports further address that the 30-year-old is keen to join his mentor Johann van Graan, who has already joined the English club, Bath.
He made his first professional debut in Rugby fraternity for Western Province during the 2012 Vodacom Cup.
He made a total of three appearances in that campaign, scoring one try.
He was then also included in the squad for the 2012 Currie Cup Premier Division.
In August 2013, he signed a two-year contract that kept him at Western Province and the Stormers until 2015.
He further extended his contract with the Stormers in July 2017 which saw him remain until the end of the 2019 season.
After the 2019 Rugby World Cup, where de Allende was a member of the victorious South African team, he joined Japanese Top League side Saitama Wild Knights.
He joined the Irish United Rugby Championship side, Munster, in 2020, whose head coach was van Graan.
De Allende made his debut for Munster on 22 August 2020, and scored his remarkable first try for the province in their 52–3 win against Italian side Zebre.
