The ongoing debate about who is the “king of blues” will be ironed out when Chelsea cross swords with Manchester City in the English Premier League Super Sunday headline fixture at Stamford Bridge this evening at 6:30pm.
Managers Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola will be rekindling their rivalry and will be all out for nothing but maximum points.
Guardiola and his men go up against a poised Chelsea side who are on a winning impetus after they had a repast with Tottenham Hotspur when they dismantled them with a whopping 4-1 defeat on Monday night.
The Blues of London have not had an up to scratch start to their EPL campaign under Pochettino. They languish down at the bottom half of the standings on number 10 with 15 points after 11 games.
City, on the other hand, even not on their ultimate imperious form in the league, are still very much a side that requires every team to be on their guard, as they continue to terrorise every team.
One player who is acquainted with and well-aware of the threat City pose is England international Raheem Sterling, who was in the books of Manchester two seasons ago.
Sterling has not had the best start to his Chelsea career, having just managed to score six goals in 28 appearances last season. However, under Pochettino the 28-year-old has picked up form and looks revived as he is already halfway through to equalling last season’s goal tally.
Pound for pound, Pochettino does have enough fire power to cause troubles for City defenders Joško Gvardiol and Ruben Diaz, among others.
Striker Nicolas Jackson will be high in confidence in front of goals after registering his first Premier League professional career hat trick against Spurs.
Jackson will be in a goal scoring contest with lethal striker Erling Haaland.
