Major boost for Limpopo’s COVID-19 battle

Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba will receive sponsorships for Personal Protective Equipments(PPE) from different foundations on behalf of the Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha on Good Friday.

The sponsorship will be unveiled today at the Limpopo Pharmaceutical Depot, Factory 30 at Seshego Industrial in Polokwane at 10am.

Among the good Samaritans and sponsors who donated the much needed equipment was Vharanani Group of Companies CEO David Mabilu, owner of the Sunday World newspaper.

Ramathuba’s spokesman Thilivhali Muavha  said the sponsorships came at a crucial time when the department will be rolling out a mass screening and testing campaign  in the communities.

“The PPE or Personal protective equipment to be donated, includes face masks, gloves, gowns, shoe covers and face shields. These are clothing, or garments designed to protect the wearer’s body from infections. The department is humbled by this donation, particularly realizing the high demand of the PPEs in our health care facilities during this COVID-19 period. This  sponsorship will surely relieve the department’s burden in the fight against COVID-19,”he said.

Limpopo is among the least affected province with only 21 cases of Covid-19 so far.
