Broadcaster, producer and businesswoman Anele Mdoda has shared how, as an employer, she helped empower her former personal assistant (PA).
Mdoda shared on her social media platform X on Thursday that her former personal assistant, Lungani Gumede, is a supervisor on The Masked Singer production.
She said Gumede started being her personal assistant nine years ago, but two years ago, he was juggling studying at the University of Witwatersrand and working with her.
“This year, we made the leap for him to go fully into TV production. He does some work for us [The Masked Singer] and Carte Blanche guys. So this then left a gap open for PA for me,” she wrote.
Mdoda said she and Gumede looked for a replacement for a few months but had no luck until she decided to promote her housekeeper and nanny.
The nanny, Florence Mhlalazi, is now her PA.
“What made me teary last night was our Florence [Thuleleni Mlalazi] on the credits of Masked Singer SA,” she wrote.
“One month in, and Flo is kicking ass. I am so proud, man. High-five both of these two when you see them.”
Most-watched reality competition show
Mdoda and her partners Paul Buys and Frankie du Toit have a production company, Rose and Oaks.
Their production company creates several reality formats and scripted series for the South African audience.
The production company first brought the entertainment show The Masked Singer to South Africa in 2023.
The Masked Singer broadcasts in over 50 countries across the world, and in the United States, it is one of the most-watched reality competition shows.
After a successful first season, they decided on shooting season two of the show, which currently airs on S3 and SABC1.
