Black Coffee raises R100 000 for COVID-19 victims

International DJ Black Coffee is knocking on the R100 000.00 mark with his COVID-19 Solidarity Fundraiser.

The popular dj launched his own Black Coffee’s CoronaCareSA Fundraiser last week. While keeping his followers entertained, he would live stream his performance on his social media pages.

Using a fundraising portal called GoFundMe, Black Coffee has raised R95 218,35, which is $5 237.

He said that during this worldwide shutdown due to the pandemic, he was raising funds for the less fortunate.

“During these hard times as we battle this evil virus, there are many out there suffering [without] basic necessities. While these issues are being scratched to the surface during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s a real eye-opener as to how we can be helping year-long to feed the children, (provide) elders with fresh water and many others in need,” he said to potential donors.

“While unfortunate the circumstance(sic), it’s so incredible to see people uniting to aid South Africans and people worldwide with things we may sometimes take for granted like water and food… #WeAreOne,” he said.

On Sunday, Black Coffee revealed that the fund had raised over R76 000 rand and thanked all who donated to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said: “Home Brewed 001. Blown away by all of the love and generosity following yesterday’s stream. For Home Brewed 001, we were able to raise over 76,000 ZAR towards @solidarityfundrsa. Thank YOU! I’ll be streaming again next Saturday to continue raising money for the cause…we’re still accepting donations (link in bio) #WeAreOne #HomeBrewed.”

This Saturday will be a continuation of his #HomeBrewed worldwide live stream.
