Con artist swindles former ‘Umkhokha’ actress Alizwa Sikhafungana

A cunning scammer posing as a manager defrauded former Umkhokha: The Curse actress Alizwa Sikhafungana out of thousands of rands.

Known for her portrayal of Gabisile, the actress talked candidly about her tragic experience and accused scammer Mpho Masama of taking advantage of her hopes and stealing her hard-earned money.

“He alleged that he’s a manager, and I signed with him thinking it’s the beginning of great things, and he scammed me of my hard-earned money,” said Sikhafungana on her X platform.

The actress revealed in the startling exposé that she had transferred more than R4 485 into a bank account that was subsequently closed by Discovery Bank after another victim reported it for fraudulent activity.

“I transferred R4 485 to him, but Discovery Bank later closed the account due to a fraudulent report from another victim. I also reported him to them for fraud,” she stated.

Justice delayed

That was only the beginning of the nightmare, according to Sikhafungana.

According to the Meet the Khumalos star, Masama made fun of her calls for justice, which left her helpless.

“He has gaslit and laughed at me for wanting my money, and I’m not his first victim or last. He has trended multiple times for this, but he doesn’t stop.”

According to the actress, Masama’s purported business, Vinci Consulting, is a scam.

“The company he says is his, Vinci Consulting, actually belongs to some KwaZulu-Natal people who probably don’t even know him,” she said.

To make matters worse, Sikhafungana claimed that the police in Bellair, Durban, disregarded her attempts to pursue justice.

“The SAPS [SA Police Service] in Bellair closed the case without ever consulting me. I wonder what would have happened if SAPS had actually taken me seriously when I opened a case.

“It really saddens me because the outcome affected me so much. I took R4 485 and gave it to a scammer right after losing my job [at Umkhokha],” she lamented.

Masama allegedly dangled promises of repayment before ghosting her. “He made promises of paying me back until he blocked me.”

The conman allegedly boasts fake ties to car brands and influencers to lure his victims.

“He lies a lot about working with car brands or big companies and with well-known influencers.

“It’s all a lie, a scheme to get you to believe him so he can take your money and run.”
