Gospel singer Tumisang ‘”Dr Tumi ” Makweya, who will be one of the local acts opening up for American gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard, believes a possible collaboration would be of great value.
Speaking to Sunday World Makweya said he did a tour in the United States for three weeks and met Leonard.
“It is going to be nice to have her come through. I think international collaborations are good, especially on an international platform, there is nothing much you would do on a local platform. We have reached the local market over the past couple of years really well,” he said.
Makweya said he is willing to converse with the gospel sensation to explore possibilities of working together and even bring her to his show.
“Collaborations are really good if you’re working towards building into different sectors of markets. I think in the next phase of my career I want to do a lot of collaborations, especially non-South African ones. Get into the UK, US, and Nigerian markets.”
The gospel star also spoke about his upcoming Gathering of Worshippers concert that will take place in October at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria.
“We have been building it up over the past couple of years and then covid happened. We are going to Pretoria because the Dome is closed, because of the break I thought let’s not do a stadium and see if we can get 30 000 people and rebuild it from there.”
The Nothing Without You hitmaker is set to release a new album in the next two weeks and has already released two singles from the upcoming album.
