The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) have come on board for the Forty Under 40 SA Champion Summit and Forty Under 40 SA Awards.
The awards will take place on September 9 at the Houghton Hotel in Johannesburg.
Forty Under 40 SA is an initiative of the prestigious continental concept, Forty Under 40 Africa.
The organisers have curated this award ceremony to identify, honour, and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age of 40 from a wide range of industries.
Forty Under 40 SA has sought out a list of 151 finalists from a pool of 350-plus applications, of which 81 are women and 71 are men.
The champion summit is an interactive gathering that aims to empower and equip young leaders with skills, knowledge, and networks to drive change in their communities.
Through inspiring interactions, engaging workshops, and panel discussions, the summit creates a conducive environment for the exchange of ideas and personal development.
NYDA executive chairperson Asanda Luwaca said: “The NYDA is excited to be presented with a platform for the showcasing of excellence within our country’s youth on a continental and global scale.
“The Forty Under 40 SA Awards and summit comes after the adoption of a youth council within the emerging economies bloc and we are excited to witness what opportunities and market access these cross-border relations will bring to young people in the country, the continent, and the world at large.”
Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Minister in the Presidency Responsible for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, said: “These awards will give recognition to young individuals who will be recognised, and their accomplishments will be celebrated in their respective fields and encourage their contribution to nation building.
“This partnership is in the spirit of South Africa’s foreign policy of fostering shared prosperity, inclusive economic growth, and African unity.
“The Awards will also contribute towards fostering social cohesion amongst young Africans.”
