Janet Jackson among the headline acts at Dstv Delicious festival

This year, the DStv Delicious Festival will celebrate three decades of creative freedom in South Africa. This will take place in Johannesburg on September 21 and 22 2024.

American singer and songwriter Janet Damita Jackson has been announced as one of the headliners for the two-day event. 


The late Michael Jackson’s younger sister has sold over 100 million records over her illustrious career. She is known for her innovative, socially conscious and sexually provocative records and elaborate stage shows.

Sultry-voiced Jill Scott, impressive local line-up

Another American singer who will headline the festival is Jill Scott.  The soul sensation started her career as a spoken word artist, appearing at live poetry readings with her work.

DStv Delicious festival will be expanding its focus to highlight not only outstanding food and music, but also art and fashion. Now in its 11th year of making enduring memories, it will also feature a special performance honouring the greats from the music industry.

The 30 Years of Creative Freedom Show on Saturday will feature performances by Boom Shaka, Cassper Nyovest and Focalistic. Also Khuli Chana, Maggz, Morafe, Okmalumkoolkat, Reason, Robot Boii and Touchline. Mzwakhe Mbuli SNR, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Jesse Clegg, Zolani Mahola and more artists to be announced soon. 

The Saturday line-up will also consist of  Thandiswa Mazwai. The pioneer of electronic dance music scene in South Africa, G-Force on the decks is also on the line-up. Legends Live by Oskido, a newly crafted DJ set with a live band will warm up the crowd. This will bring the crowd to fever pitch before Jackson takes to the stage in the evening.

30 years of SA’s creative freedom

On Sunday, the Soweto Gospel Choir will elevate spirits and stir souls through the joy of music. An incredible live band performance by Sjava, The Maestro on the decks, as well as the Legends Live by Oskido. They will keep the mood upbeat before Jill Scott rounds off the Delicious weekend in her velvet-smooth style delivery.

Festival co-founders Tom Pearson-Adams and Lloyd Cornwall were upbeat about this year’s impressive leg of the festival. They said: “We are thrilled to be returning with a very special commemorative festival to celebrate 30 years of creative freedom in South Africa. Something that sets our rainbow nation apart is our exceptional creative and cultural talent. [It] has been a cornerstone of the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival since we started out in 2013.”
