Metro FM radio personality DJ Sabby has reached yet another milestone after he was picked to co-host a musical competition Clash of the Choirs South Africa.
Born Sabelo Mtshali, DJ Sabby hosts the Metro FM breakfast show. He will be joined on stage by multi-talented Bontle Modiselle.
After a seven-year hiatus, Mzansi Magic’s much-loved musical competition is making a comeback for its fourth season.
The judges for the show will be gospel superstar Dr Tumi, kwaito legend Zwai Bala, and Buhlebendalo, who is well-known for her her solo projects and her work with The Soil.
“We’re excited that the audience favourite Clash of the Choirs South Africa is back after some time away from our screens,” said Shirley Adonisi, director of local entertainment channels at M-Net.
“It returns refreshed and bolder than before, and we can’t wait for our viewers to engage with it and vote for their favourites.
“Sundays Sisonke on Mzansi Magic – we are the home of entertainment and are proud to continue creating content that our audience loves and resonates with.”
For the first time ever, all nine provinces are represented and a team of celebrity choirmasters left no voice behind in search of the perfect choir to take to Johannesburg.
The choirs will go head-to-head as they compete in various musical challenges. At stake is R1-million prize money.
The choirmasters for each province are: Lady Du (East London), Vusi Nova (Western Cape), Langa Mavuso (Northern Cape ), Zaza Mokhethi (Free State), HLE (Limpopo), Khanyisa Jaceni (Mpumalanga), Ntencane (KwaZulu-Natal), Prince Kaybee (Gauteng), and Stoan (North West).
In the hunt for South Africa’s next superstar choir, the Clash of the Choirs South Africa crew travelled wide, saw many faces, and heard memorable voices.
Individuals and choirs from all walks of life turned up with their best notes and good stories and dreams bound to tug at your heartstrings.
The Clash of the Choirs South Africa will air on September 24 on Mzansi Magic at 6 pm.
