Rum.Gold coming soon to senerade Mzansi

American R&B singer and songwriter Delonte Drumgold, known professionally as Rum.Gold, has revealed that he will be coming to South Africa.

The Call It What You Want hitmaker took to social media on Thursday to announce his planned tour of Mzansi. Rum.Gold said the official announcement of the cities he will be visiting will be made next week.

“South Africa I see ya’ll, I hear ya’ll and I am finally coming to Johannesburg and maybe another city too. This is all because of the love (and bullying) you guys have shown me over the years, so I hope to see you all there,” he wrote. 


Rum.Gold was born in Washington, DC in 1994. He grew up living with different family members in the area.

As a young child, he sang in the church choir, and in high school. He started playing the trumpet and joined his school’s jazz band.

Inspired by his love for jazz music he moved to Boston in 2012 to attend Berklee College of Music. He then later graduated with a degree in music business management and marketing.

Move to BrooklymAfter moving to Brooklyn, New York, in 2016 he spent his first few months working odd jobs, writing music and uploading it to SoundCloud under the name Anon.

Encouraged by listeners’ responses, he continued writing music and switched to his current stage name. 

Album about black history

In 2023, he released his second full album, U Street Anthology, an album he says it is dedicated to his city of origin, Washington, DC. Rum.gold adds the album highlights aspects of black history and stories that are central to the capital city of the US.


Earlier this year he was on the “U Street Anthology Tour” which he said he believes was life-changing.

“What a joy it has been seeing the faces of the people who have been supporting me and my sad songs for all this time. This tour has been an amazing learning experience, and I cannot wait to see more of you soon,” he wrote.
